The Trustees of the Shakespeare at The George Charity offer an annual bursary, for up to £1000 in any one year, open to any group or individual based in Huntingdonshire and its neighbouring districts to allow them to realise their theatrical dream. There is no limit to the subject matter of a project but that it should be innovative, exciting and enhance amateur theatre. The only rider is that awards will not be granted to students to meet the costs of their studies.
Mo Pearce, who died in 2007, was a pillar of the theatrical scene in Huntingdonshire, and her passing has been strongly felt by those who worked with her, particularly Shakespeare at The George and Brampton Park Theatre Company. She was the Chairperson for both groups and demanded high standards from their members. A talented actor in her own right, she was best known in her later years as a director and many thespians in the local area have benefited from her experience, creativity and, at times, her unrelenting and exacting demands for perfection.
Applications can be made, in the first instance, by e-mail or letter to the Chair of the Trustees (details below). The closing date for the receipt of outline applications is 31 December each year and applicants may be asked to provide more details if the rewards panel need them at a later date. The winning entry will be announced by the end of April the following year and the formal presentation made during the performance run of the current production in late June/early July.
If you have a project in mind and would like to have an informal discussion about it before putting in an application, please contact Richard Morley on 01480 395737. Formal applications should be sent to;
